Older Adult Employment Program | NYC Department for the Aging (NYC Aging)
1. How it Works
The Older Adult Employment Program helps adults 55 and older prepare for and find work while paying them. Older adults get trained to use computers, look for work, write resumes, and more. Career counselors are also there to give advice.
There are job placements citywide for many kinds of work which include:
data processing
administrative work
customer service
security services
airport services
home care
Requires proof of identity, income, where you live, and eligibility to work.
2. Determine your eligibility
To be eligible for the Older Adult Employment Program, you must:
Be 55 years or older
Live in the five boroughs
Be unemployed
Be willing to learn new skills
Commit to actively seeking employment
Your household’s income must be at or below the amount shown in this chart.
If your household size is 1, your income must be $18,825 or less (125% or less than the federal poverty level).
If your household size is 2, your income must be $25,550 or less (125% or less than the federal poverty level).
If your household size is 3, your income must be $32,275 or less (125% or less than the federal poverty level).
If your household size is 4, your income must be $39,000 or less (125% or less than the federal poverty level).
If your household size is 5, your income must be $45,725 or less (125% or less than the federal poverty level).
If your household size is 6, your income must be $52,450 or less (125% or less than the federal poverty level).
If your household size is 7, your income must be $59,175 or less (125% or less than the federal poverty level).
If your household size is 8, your income must be $65,900 or less (125% or less than the federal poverty level).
For each additional person, add $6,725 to the income limit.
